Purification Day 2,3 & 4 - Surviving The Weekend by BAKING?

Happy Monday! I am still on the purification ;0)

Weekends are the HARDEST for me to stay on the purification.

Through the week - it is go, go, go...5 People going in 5 different directions...but on the weekend it is 5 mouths and a refrigerator - I joke with my husband that there are days I feel like a short order cook. But I accept that it is my own fault. I do something that is an absolute "Mommy NO NO".

I let my kids eat different meals!

My youngest still has a very limit palate, my oldest will eat it if you pay him and my daughter will eat anything I eat! Thank goodness my husband has no problem eat left overs or a bit of this and a bit of that.

This means I usually prepare 2-3 different items. But it works out great in the end since Saturdays are usually a buffet of everything and anything NOT eaten during the week.

I also love to bake for my family on the weekends, scones, breads, breakfast casseroles, quiche...One thing I love about the purificaiton is that I have more energy to bake!

Example: This weekend I baked 2 loaves of cinnamon bread (smelled great), cinnamon scones, and my first chicken pot pie.

Several friends questioned how I could do this? What will power! I have no will power at all --- but I love watching my family and friends enjoy good food.

It gives me a chance to try new recipes - since relearning how to cook with whole food has been a HUGE challenge. When we found out that most of my oldest sons symptoms were from food preservatives and chemicals - it realized how little I knew about actually cooking food.

My mother was (is) a great cook, but like most of us, I enjoyed the food, but never learned how she did it.

There is a fine art to meal planning, meal preparation, maintaining a food budget and feeding a family of 5 three times a day with as little complaints as possible while fighting of the desire to buy bags and boxes of instant - ready to eat now- "the rest of my friends eat it" foods-like products.

I am still trying to figure this "ART" out and appreciate all the help from friends who are trying to do the same. We are learning that as Moms we have the task of keeping our family healthy and teaching them how to do it themselves.

Enjoy the day and be well!

Kym
